Sorry for the vagueness and not fillling in the job search holes. It is just very complicated right now, and I don't really know what is going to happen. I hope it all gets sorted out soon though...

You Went Where?

I recently discovered a little place in Provo called "Robert's Hair'm: Full Service Salon." Now, I give Robert full props for creativity, but what was he thinking? I have a hard time believing anyone could take a name like that seriously.

"Your hair looks great! Where do you get it done?"

"Oh you know, the full service salon, Robert's Hair'm!"

It seems like something you would see on Jay Leno or Dave Letterman.

Bad Luck

I love celebrity gossip. Many people are shocked to find that I know more about what is going on in celebrities' lives than basically any other person. I'm slightly embarrassed to admit it, but I faithfully check multiple gossip Web sites multiple times a day.

One of the reasons I was so excited to go to New York was so I could spot celebrities in real life for four whole months. Much to my dismay, this only happened once: I was running in Central Park along the same path as Ashton Kutcher. Even when I attended a taping of the Letterman Show, the guest was Michael Moore (he doesn't count, who cares about him), and there wasn't even a band.

When it came time to return home, I was comforted by the hope of seeing Lyndsay Lohan while she was in rehab just a few blocks away from my house. One time my mother and I saw a girl at the grocery store that kind of looked like her, but after following her around for a short while, we realized it was just some random girl. Many people I know saw her on multiple occasions, but my going to the gym at all hours of the day, driving past the facility, and hanging out at Nordstroms did me no good. She left Utah without me ever even catching a glimpse.

Yesterday, I went up to Park City for the Sundance Festival. I had high hopes since Paris, Jessica Alba, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jack Black, Colin Farrel, David whatever his last name is (Buffy, Bones), Mary-Kate Olsen, and Taylor Kitsch (who I was most excited about, I LOVE Friday Night Lights) had all been spotted recently. After walking up and down Main Street in the FREEZING cold a handful of times while looking at EVERY person we passed, in all the store/restaurant windows and cars, I got back in my car feeling very dejected that I had once again failed.

I still have high hopes, maybe one blessed day, I will actually be able to see someone. I have a feeling when it finally does happen, it will be someone extra good (like brad, angelina and their kiddies, that would be amazing!)

Laughing it Up with the Gas

I had a cavity filled today. It was my first cavity since I was a very small child. I recently developed a strange fear of needles and having one stuck into my gums really didn't sound good, so when they offered gas, I happily accepted. I was really nervous as they slipped that weird thing over my nose (it definitely didn't help that it was done by a girl from high school who was never exactly my favorite person). I sat back, chose some good music (they give you an ipod to listen to while they work, huge fan of this idea, soon-to-be-dentist sister take note) and waited for it to kick in. After 5 minutes, I still felt exactly the same, so the dentist then decided to give me a little bit more. It wasn't long before my whole body tingled, and I felt quite numb. They began their work and I calmly laid there looking at the ceiling, which was painted blue with clouds all over it, and listened to Across the Universe, wondering if that is how the Beatles felt when they wrote it and their other "crazy" (aka: high) songs. As I laid in the chair, I felt like I was floating through those ceiling clouds. This is when I realized the gas was definitely doing its job. It is kind of funny, I remember thinking, "hmm...this is probably the closest to being high I'll ever feel" and "It is ridiculous that I feel like I'm flying through these clouds, but man, I sure do!"

The procedure was over quickly and painlessly. I remember them asking me a few questions and wanting to answer, just not really being able to get the words I was thinking out (this was strangely very similar to when I was whacked in the head during a lacrosse game, and I was almost carted away on oxygen in an ambulance). When they pulled the mask off, I felt a little weird, but nothing really crazy. I went to go pay but had to wait a few minutes for my turn. When it was my turn, I suddenly felt dizzy so asked to sit down. Apparently I didn't look so hot because the next thing I knew the lady was yelling, "We need some help in here! Doctor!" They had to half carry/half drag me back to a chair where they promptly put me back on oxygen, covered me in blankets, and made me lay there for about a half hour. (I probably should have realized something was wrong when the dentist's brother came in, and they were both talking to me about how they know my bro-in-law and his family, (they say hello, by the way) and it took me about 5 minutes before I realized there was 2 of them.)

While I was much better than before, I was still in no condition to drive home, so my mother was eventually called to come drive me home. I feel a lot more normal now but still a little light-headed, and I have a nasty headache (is this what a hangover feels like?). One of the last things the doctor told me was no more gas, I guess if I ever have any more cavities (which is not going to happen) I will have to face my fears and be stabbed with needles.

This is my friend/boyfriend/uhh??

I am a big fan of Facebook. I am slightly embarrassed/ashamed to admit that I have been an avid (probably a little bit addicted) Facebook user since it was first created. I remember when the "It's Complicated" option was added. At first, I just thought it was something funny put on by a kind of strange boy I knew. I soon learned though, it was now a full-fledged relationship status option. I thought this was funny and figured no one would actually use it besides as a joke. Much to my surprise though, many people actually seriously declare their relationships as "complicated."

This doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Why does someone want to declare to the world (facebook sure has grown!) that they are not in a normal, healthy relationship, but a dysfunctional one?! In my opinion, if you are declaring it complicated because is just not a full-fledged relationship yet, then it is probably not necessary to declare it for all to see. I just don't understand this one.

Then again, this is coming from a person who thinks it weird to declare to the masses every step and move you make. I guess I just don't like everyone knowing my business. I guess I have seen too many people who prematurely get excited about a potential love interest, declaring this hope to everyone on Facebook and then finding out things don't work out quite as expected, so they sheepishly have to change the status back just a few days later, leaving all of your Web stalkers wondering what went wrong.

That being said, I do love my Facebook!

Does this Make Me Look Fat?

I have a new show that I love: What Not to Wear. I have become a fan since my jobless days started. Sometimes I even learn helpful things that I never knew, like it is NOT a fashion faux paux to wear both black and brown, who knew?! I have always wanted to be on a makeover show; I always knew I would be a great candidate. The other day, my belief was confirmed. The episode featured a 20-something-year-old girl who just graduated from college and was looking for a job. I thought to myself, "oh boy, this is going to be a good one!" and sure enough, it was an eye-opening experience.

As Clinton and Stacey went through her wardrobe, I kept thinking, "wow! I have that exact outfit!" and "That isn't that bad...is it?" Much to my dismay, this girl's clothes were almost shirt-for-shirt like mine and they only had bad things to say about it! (My mother quietly nodded and agreed with them on everything and kept telling me to pay attention) I couldn't help but be jealous as this girl got to go to New York, spend $5,000 on a new wardrobe and get a free professional makeover. If only it was me, we are in the exact same boat!

If anyone wants to nominate me for this show, please be my guest! ;)

Buggy

So after my return from New York, I decided to be brave and get bangs. This was a huge step for me, one that involved going back and forth on the decision up to the point that the lady actually made the first chop. I was so afraid because as those of you who have known me for a significant point of time cant verify, I have had the same hair my whole life. I was also worried because when people find out how old I am or that I just graduated, I am constantly met with responses such as, "No Way! You look way too young to have graduated from high school!" or "So what grade are you in?" or like when I attended a funeral with family members I have not seen in about 10 years, everyone guessed how old I was, and no lie, the oldest I got was 16 (FYI: this took place last August)! Sadly, the general consensus was I was a measly 14! Anyway, back to the topic, I was afraid bangs would make me look even younger. Much to my delight, when I finally stopped holding my breath and opened my eyes, I loved the bangs. If anything, they made me look more my age, wahoo!!

That is until recently. Because of my recent state of poorness, I have not returned to have the bangs trimmed. One day, because my fabulous bangs almost touched my lips, my mother trimmed them for me. She did a pretty good job, and they were acceptable again. Well, they are now again dreadfully in need of a professional trim. They have taken on a life of their own and go in whatever way they want. Their new favorite thing is to have one side that hangs plastered against my forehead, while the other half kind of curves out and swoops to the side. To add to this beautiful 'do, there are two little pieces on each side of my face that stick straight out towards my ears. This gives me an ant antenna look. It really is beautiful. I'm just waiting for Tyra to come knock on my door and beg me to join her next show. I think the look is for sure going to catch on. Soon we will be seeing everyone walking down the street looking like our little insect friends....

Random Side Note: I am very disappointed in my friends for leaving me hanging about the blog designs. You don't need to worry my blog will be so much more incredibly beautiful than yours, remember, we've established my lack of ability to make things pretty....

Question

Where/how does everyone get their cool and unique backgrounds? I am tired of my green one and want a different one. Feel free to let me know.

Keep Koming to the Kiosk

So last Monday was supposed to be my last day at the kiosk. I was surprised when on tuesday i got home from skiing and had several voicemails and texts from my manager asking me to work the following day, so she could have the day off. I didn't really want to (remember i have YET to be paid for any of my work there), but being easily guilt-tripped, i agreed.

Wednesday I worked.

On Thursday, I actually had plans to hang out with some friends. Around 3:30 that afternoon, i get a text from an unknown number saying simply, "will you fill in for me?!" I hesistantly responded asking who the person was, and what they were talking about. The response was it a person from the Kiosk who wanted me to work for her that night at 5 (talk about last minute...). I told her I was sorry but already had plans. The next thing i know, the girl had written back saying, "Please!! Can't you cancel? My family is in town!" Now, while i am sympathetic to wanting to hang out with family, i know her family had been in town for more than a week, and why did she wait until an hour before to try and get someone to take the shift? It also bothered me that she was essentially telling me her plans were more important than mine, and so, I should just cancel mine. Despite my annoyance, my guilt for saying no was building, so i compromised with her and worked the first half of the shift.

Something funny was they had to move the kiosk since the store is opening. The people working that shift were going to have to take everything down. Now, I knew this and knew that I did not want to be working all night long taking the apart the kiosk of the place that i was not getting paid to work at and didn't even officially work for (and not to mention the fact i was supposed to have been doing unofficially working for them). The girl still kept trying to use this as a selling point though.

So after a couple of hours of working, i still was able to hang out wiht my friends. I was annoyed, but whatever, who couldn't use an extra $16 (minus taxes, i'm rolling in the dough!)? At promptly the time i said i would, i walked away from the kiosk for good, or at least that is what i thought....

The following day, the same girl texts me again. Once again, she wanted me to work for her. What is it with these people? I don't work there anymore! I don't understand why they keep calling me! They have several people who work there. Additionally, the two other seasonal girls both wanted to get hired permanantly, and they weren't. It seems like they would be the more obvious call, but who knows?

I am supposedly done with my kiosk days. It will be interesting to see if they keep calling...

Only Time Can Tell

So I believe many of you know about the mysterious circumstances that I lost my beloved watch the night before i left for NYC; I have often lamented my loss. But in case you don't, here is a condensed version.

When I was a junior in high school, I was the last scuba "uncertified" in my family. I had little-to-no interest in changing that so my parents were looking for ways to motivate me into changing my mind. I received this watch as an incentive. Since the day I got it, I wore it everyday. I loved this watch!

The day before I left for my NY adventure, I woke up and put my watch on, that night before I went to bed, I went to take it off, and it was gone! I searched for as long as I could, but had to go to bed since my flight left in a few hours. The next morning I still could not find my watch. I started crying as I explained my predicament to my mother. She promised to search my room and mail it to me.

Well, she searched our whole house, but unfortunately, it was no where to be found. We still talk about the mysterious disappearance of the watch, and I finally gave up hope that it would ever be found.

For Christmas, I got a fabulous new watch! It is beautiful! I love it! Although I wanted to know what the heck happened to my first, my new one definitely eased my pain and helped me to move on.

Well, today, exactly 1 week after I received my new and improved watch, we went cross country skiing. When I went to pull on my snowpants in the parking lot, something fell to the ground. It was my old watch!!! I cannot believe i finally found it! Somehow the thing ended up in my snowpants. Crazy!! Now I just have to convince my parents that Santa doesn't need to take my new one back because I will love them both equally.
